Another one of my favorite holidays! Celebrated with a gin Martini (but really, all Martinis are made with gin…the rest are cocktails). A new gin for me,
Principe De Los Apostoles Mate Gin which came all the way from Mendoza, Argentina. Delicious stuff, flavored with juniper, yerba mate, eucalyptus, pink grapefruit skin, and peppermint. Heady and rich, a well-balanced premium bottle. I had mine with Dolin Blanc vermouth and a lemon twist, but if you want to sip one like an Argentine, dress it with a splash of Cynar (a wonderfully bitter-sweet artichoke based amaro), another splash of tonic water, and a grapefruit rind twist.
